Every artist/group I've ever experienced live.
-
Cher
In Washington D.C. when I was 9 years old. Back when I believed in life after love.
-
Celine Dion
At the Aloha Stadium. I don't remember how old I was.
-
The Backstreet Boys
At Aloha Stadium. We were really far away and I don't remember much about it.
-
N*Sync
At the Blaisdell. My parents surprised me with the tickets the night of the show, and I had a really bad stomach ache and felt sick the whole time. I was probably 8 or 9 years old.
-
Blink-182
On August 13th, 2004 at the Blaisdell. I was in 7th grade. It was epic.
-
Senses Fail
At Aloha Tower, during the summer before my freshman year of high school. I was at the peak of scenie-weenie-ness.
-
Coheed and Cambria
On November 23rd, 2005 at Pipeline Cafe, during my freshman year of high school. I watched Claudio Sanchez play guitar with his teeth while getting beat up by military men and scenie-weenies.
-
She Wants Revenge
At Pipeline Cafe. It was either during my freshman or sophomore year of high school. I went with Malia. The venue was not crowded at all, which made it a-ma-zing.
-
The Shins
On July 27th, 2007 at Pipeline Cafe - The summer before my junior year of high school. The first show Marc and I went to together.
-
Ratatat
At Pipeline Cafe, the same night as The Shins. It was a semi-surprise. Those guys are cracked out!
-
Ima Robot w/ Guns 'n Bombs
On December 15th, 2007 at Pipeline Cafe. Was this really during sophomore year? I guess so... I went with Malia. It was a dance party to the max. The Cobra Snake took our photo and we got onto his website!
-
Say Anything
On April 16th, 2008 at Pipeline Cafe, during my junior year of high school. We had V.I.P. tickets for this one. Malia and I made a sign that said "THE FUTILE!! ...please?" because we knew it wouldn't be on their set list. Max Bemis saw me holding up the sign, and decided to play the song. Super duper good show.
-
Vampire Weekend
On July 29th, 2008 at Pipeline Cafe, during the summer before my senior year of high school. I love them more live than on CD! Good show.
-
Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band
On October 7th, 2008 at Pipeline Cafe, right at the start of my senior year of high school. I went with Malia. We saw pretty much the entire Punahou English department at this show (Mr. Dyke, Mr. Wolfe, Mr. Maretzki, and Mr. Hamamoto). Conor has bad teeth, but a great voice. He is a lyrical genius.
-
MSTRKRFT
On January 3rd, 2009 at Nextdoor, during my senior year of high school. They didn't come on until about 12:45 a.m., but they sounded pretty good to me, so I guess it was worth the wait. Artists don't understand that people in Hawaii go to sleep early! This isn't L.A. or New York!
-
Aesop Rock
On January 16th, 2009 at Pipeline Cafe, during my senior year of high school. The opening bands were terrible. I did not enjoy them at all. My back was so sore all night. He was good but my mood totally brought the experience down.
-
Shiny Toy Guns
On January 23rd, 2009 at Pipeline Cafe, during my senior year of high school. It was so-so. We scored a table and sat.
-
Jenny Lewis
On April 10th, 2009 at Pipeline Cafe, during my senior year of high school. I had never really listened to her until this show, except for her Rilo Kiley and The Postal Service work. Loved it.
-
MGMT
On July 16th, 2009 at Pipeline Cafe, a week after my 18th birthday. The crowd was a nightmare - I had to be lifted out by security because 1. I couldn't handle, and 2. I had to pee and there was no way I could make it to the bathroom through all of those people by myself. They are not that good live! The only highlight was their last song, "Kids."
