Say Goodbye to the Ads

We wont miss you. :)

Utensi will be ad free from now on!

Much needed updates are near!

We’ve been silently/stealthily working behind the scenes thinking of ways to make creating, maintaining, and sharing lists easier. Instead of adding big new features, we’re going back to the list creation and editing process.

Here’s a little preview of what you’ll be seeing soon(as in the next two weeks):

*In-place editing of lists and items!
*Auto-completion in many fields

Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean our next big feature update was canceled. That’s going in next after the smaller updates. Trust me, if you like making lists, you’ll love this new feature. Until then keep sending us feedback please!

Comparative List Idea

I’m going to start a new project that will help me with list ideas.

If every week find a product that is not unique and made differently in different places, I can try them all and describe it in a list. I guess I would call it my comparative lists.

For example, Acai is very popular here in Hawaii and there are at least a dozen places that make it. I will try them all!

This could be a way to broaden my tastes as well.

I think I will do the Acai list first. In Hawaii of course, for now.

Second!

The second blog post! Just wanted to take this time to introduce myself. I’m Aaron Van Bokhoven, aka ‘aaronvb’ to some people, and I’m the lead web developer at Utensi. I like Valve games, especially TF2, and I’m a published/retired fashion photographer in Hawaii. You might have noticed that I have a few photography related lists. When I’m not gaming or photographing, I’m writing code in Ruby and reading Web 2.0 stuff.

We have some awesome features coming very soon that we’ve been cooking up behind the scenes. I’m not at liberty to talk about it, but I promise it will make Utensi much more easier and fun to use!

I want to let everyone know that we’re hard at work behind-the-scenes and not to worry. We’re always looking for more ideas and feedback, so leave some if you have any!

I’ll leave you with a photo from one of my favorite photographers on flickr. :)

First!

Greetings Utensilists! It’s the first blog post. You’ll definitely want us in your G reader!

Utensi is a utility that we’re all happy to see realized. We launched into public beta with all the features that are essential to creating and sharing lists. Right now we’re working on building a community of list makers and adding new features.

We’re constantly working to make Utensi faster and easier to use, but we need your feedback. If you haven’t already, send us a few lines telling us what you think of Utensi.
